George Petrie was a veteran actor of stage and screen. George was born in New Haven, Connecticut and graduated from U.S.C. in 1934. Soon he found himself in NYC and in his first Broadway production "Cafe Crown". George also served in World War II and during his service he appeared in the Broadway production of "The Army Play by Play". The show played before President Roosevelt and ran for 6 months. George then transferred into the Air Force but still kept performing. While in the Air Force he performed in George Cukor's "Winged Victory." After his discharge he turned to radio and could be heard on "The Amazing Mr. Malone".
In the 1950s George Petrie starred in several Soap Operas such as "As the World Turns" and "Edge of Night". He also could be seen portraying various characters on "the Honeymooners". George Petrie would be associated with Jackie Gleason into 1969.
