Dj was born in Inglewood,CA in 1984. He lived there with his family briefly before moving to Memphis,Tn where he was exposed to the game and every element of it.As a child DJ has always had a passion for music.Learning how to play the drums from his older sister and growing up in the church dj use to play the drums for New Prospect C.O.G.I.C. in Orange Mound,Tn.He fell in love with music at an early age but he never knew that he would make it big in the music industry. Dj started writting raps to express his feelings.He would rap about everything and that his how he was able to create his own distinct style.He started performing in highschool talent shows and unlimited Shunn Gunn talent shows around the city.After graduating from Westside High School Dj went own to record his first demo which was called Testimony.He released his first demo in the summer of 2003.Determined to make it in the music industry dj would take his cds and go around Memphis promoting and selling his cds.he was so fouced that in the summer of 2003 Dj moved over 10 thousands cds.Some he gave away some he sold but he learned that you can't wait for the muisc industry to find you,you must find the industry and dominate it.He continued to record songs and finally released the album Testimony in Nov of 2004.Selecto Hits Ditribution agreed to pick up the product and Dj recevied a distribution deal with Selecto Hits.Already known for hustling Dj starting showing up all over the underground rap scene.Dj has performed everywhere from the Boss Club,Platium Rose,Wing City,G spot,Club Superior,Club Motions,Rockafella and so many other places in Memphis its hard not to know Young Spirit in some shape or fashion.Dj is the type of person where you might see him Downtown,In North Memphis,In Cordova,In East Memphis,and even the Haven all in one day.He gets around and is known everywhere.Niggas in Memphis respect dj for his hustle and niggas in Memphis support him and his music.After violating his probation Dj spent a few months incarcarated where he wrote his ablum untittled Still Hustling and Hustling Smarter.His single Micheal Jordan of the Dope Game is one of the most anticipated songs on the new cd.The new cd will be dropping in the summer of 07 and Dj will be signed to either SO SO DEF or well its a surprise so stay tuned and be looking out for the new music coming soon.
