Meta4

Meta4 has established itself as one of the forerunners of Finnish chamber music in a short period of time.Founded in 2001, Meta4 has studied with Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl in the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA).Winning the first prize in the 2004 International D. Shostakovich String Quartet Competition in Moscow launched the quartet´s international career. They were also awarded a special prize for the best performance of a Shostakovich string quartet. In April 2007 Meta4 won the first prize in the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna.Meta4 has performed in Vienna (Mozart Saal), Madrid (Auditorio Nacional), New York (Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall) among others, as well as in various Finnish festivals, including Kuhmo, Turku and Helsinki Festivals.The quartet is in the fortunate position to play on the following instruments: a Stradivarius violin from the 1690s kindly on loan from the Sibelius Academy and supported by the Pohjola company, a Bellosio violin (1770), kindly on loan from the Local Cooperative Bank of Sysmä, a Guidantus viola (1737), kindly on loan from the OKO and a Postiglione cello (1857), kindly on loan from luthier Ilkka Wainio.For the year 2007 Meta4 has invitations to Milano (Sala Verdi), London (Wigmore Hall), Dortmund (Konzerthaus), Stockholm (Konserthuset), among others.
