I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Former college radio geek. Likes design. Intelligence? please god yes! I admire the ability to debate things critically without blind loyalties to one side or the other. I try to be objective about debate (I'm human..so who the hell am I kidding...), except I tend to be a bit of a movie/music snob, but hell I try not to be too bad okay?! I love movies, same with music and books. To quote Woody Allen (quoting someone else): "I wouldn't want to be a member of any sort of club that would have me as a member"Also, here's Sean Connery in a ponytail pretending to fall behind a mirrored pyramid for your enjoyment:

My Interests

Books:

Lots of instruction books (oh who the hell am I kidding, NOBODY reads those damned things), FREAKONOMICS (holy hell that book rocks), All the President's Spin, The Daily Show presents America: The Book, Me Talk Pretty One Day (hell, ANYTHING Sedaris has written, though Barrel Fever can be pretty bleak humor), Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Running with Scissors, Colors Insulting to Nature, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, Repairman Jack books, Weaveworld, Abarat, Dark Tower series, Needful Things, IT, Take the Cannoli, Dry, His Dark Materials, Harry Potter, The Onion, Nerve books, Lamb: The Gospel of Christ According to his Childhood Pal Bif, IT, Barrel Fever, Sarah Vowell, Steve Martin, Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Confederacy of Dunces, etc.

Heroes:

What exactly constitutes a hero? Someone you like? Someone you respect? Someone you emulate? Someone you want to become? There's a huge range of what it means to have a hero. To me, when someone is your hero, you strive to become that person. From my perspective, I don't really have a lot of heroes. I like people and their work, but I think heroes is a little strong a word for what I feel. Too many people think if you like a person/celebrity/etc you have to like everything about them. I feel heroes come dangerously close to this. You just feel like you want to possess all their traits, I just can't see anyone who I want to do that with. Ummm....*falls backwards off soapbox* oww....my ass.
