Roger Julià recently scored John Irvin's feature film of Ernest Hemingway's "The Garden Of Eden", starring Mena Suvari, Caterina Murino, Jack Huston, and Carmen Maura.
Roger studied orchestral composition in Barcelona, Spain, and pop/rock composition and arranging with Richard Niles, in London. In 2006 he moved to Los Angeles to study the USC Film Scoring program, with a "La Caixa" scholarship given by Juan Carlos I, King of Spain. Upon completion, Randy Newman gave Roger the diploma. His teachers included composers and orchestrators Christopher Young, John Frizzell, and Pete Anthony. USC granted Roger the Phil Marshall Merit Award. Before finishing the USC program, Roger started working at Joann Kane Music Services, music preparing movies such as Die Hard 4, The Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Bourne Ultimatum, and others.
In the pop & rock world, Roger worked in projects for Celine Dion, Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue, Westlife, and Barbra Streisand. He orchestrated the music Ozzy Osbourne sang at the Royal Variety Performance 2006, with Guns'N Roses' Slash on guitar. The gala was presided by Queen Elisabeth II. He co-wrote the song "Angel In My Eyes" with Anna-Maria La Spina. Roger has recorded at Capitol Records, 20 Century FOX, and Warner Brothers.
