Once upon a time, there was a pretty, pretty princess who lived in a three-bedroom, vinyl-siding castle...

I currently live in Charlotte, NC with my husband and various pets. I am no longer a clerk-reporter for a daily newspaper and still coming to terms with the implications.

On weekends, I like to invite my friends over for boardgames or poker, get them liquored up and then nag them to sing karaoke with me. Lately, I've been heavily into WOW, but I still dabble in Rock Band for Xbox 360.
I wear scarves in the summer and listen to songs on repeat.

I complain frequently about my lack of free time. I complain a lot actually, but I think the cognitive-behavioral therapy is helping.

I tried to resist this MySpace thing because I think it's a little lame, but now everyone has one. So here I am. Why? Because I'm really bad at keeping in touch with people. Anyone I've lost touch with could tell you that. Also, I'm sure I owe someone an apology. It's not that I'm hiding, but I doubt anyone really wants to find me.

What's changed: Not much. I had gastric bypass Jan. 2, 2007.

Is it possible I could some day soon become refreshingly positive? Not likely. I would settle for a healthy weight.

Most enduring personality trait: You might say I'm a little obsessive, which makes me very loyal or a little scary. I'm proud of both.

Greatest compliment received: A guy I worked with at Blockbuster years ago said I made him want to play in traffic. Tom W., if you're reading this, thank you for your kindness. I'll never forget you.

What you didn't know: I collect giraffes.

Also addicted to: Chapstick, Sudoku

Don't hate me because: I didn't choose my father.

I often dream: That I run into old friends at Wal-Mart, or that I've eaten something that I shouldn't. When I was a little girl, I had a recurring dream that I was being chased by Grimace (the purple one, not the one in stripes who steals the burgers).

I'd like to meet:

I do admit from time to time that I was South Jersey, born and raised. Looking to reconnect with anyone from SHS, Oakwood Summer Theatre, Salem County Band/Choir, etc.

I'm interested in talking to like-minded individuals and discovering new music.

Do you have disdain for organized religion? Do you watch shitty movies all the way through just to solidify your opinion? Do you obsess over details, nearly losing sight of the basic principal? Do you Google random topics and people you used to know? Do you find leveling your professions more interesting than leveling your character? Do you visualize your brain as a filing system, which occasionally needs to be purged of song lyrics to make room for the more important, work stuff? Do you find solace in repetitive tasks? Do you prefer Cranium to Monopoly and think that all board games get better after the second or third glass of wine? Do you go to concerts for the auditory experience? Do you believe that it would be arrogant to assume Earth is the only planet populated by intelligent life? Can you pick the giraffe out a crowded safari? Would you eat breakfast foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Then, maybe we can hang.

As far as famous people, I already met Glen Phillips and John Mayer. Would you think less of me if I said my short list includes Jared Leto and Joey Tempest? I did a phone interview with tori amos, so I guess I'd like to meet her face to face.

There are few dead people I'd like to ask questions.

It's hard to believe that I've been off work two weeks now... or that I'm even post op. I've spent much of my time catching up with old Star Trek reruns, BSG, Dr Who, etc. Chugging down one sickening ...
