About Me
..Laurent Guanzini was born in St Maur des Fossés (near Paris).
At age 6, he began studying music at the « St Maur Conservatoire National ».
He learns not only the piano but also percussion, organ, trumpet, harmony, improvisation and directing orchestras....
His studies are rewarded by the presentation of several first prizes and also the « Sacem » first prize.
He obtains his « A-levels » and continues to study Mathematics at a high level. Later he discovers jazz notably through Bill Evans and Chick Corea...Guanzini has since appeared on a good 20 jazz albums (L. Guanzini Jazz String Septet, Laurent Guanzini Trio, World Jazz Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of La Sorbonne, Manacuba, Los Solistas…)and has played with some of the most popular jazz musicians/singers (Didier Lockwood, Michel Petrucciani, Claude Bolling, Anne Ducros, Aldo Romano, Richard Galiano, Sylvain Boeuf, Patrice Caratini, ) in France. In 1995, he gained « Certificat d’Aptitude » which allows him then to teach music.
Laurent is led to teach piano in various Conservatoires in France (National Conservatoire of Noisiel, CNR of Paris, CNR of La Courneuve…) and even goes as far as teaching all the way in China (University of music of Shenyang, University of music of Guangzhou) and Korea (University of music of Suweon).
Not Only in Jazz also on classical where he “learns by his own methods, selecting his own masters†(François René Duchâble, Murray Perahia…) He joins various ensembles (Jean-Walter Audoli) and also symphonic orchestras (Jacques Grimbert).
He enters the Parisian-Argentinian tango scene and tours Europe and South America with Amelita Baltar, Julio Pardo, Hugo Daniel, Juan Cedron.
Laurent has particular affection for theatre music and his colourful style has been appreciated by directors and actors (Pierre Richard, Jérôme Savary, Francis Lopez, Laurent Pelly…)
Recently, he released two CD’s in South Korea: his first piano solo album “Trip To Youâ€, and with the Korean singer Kang Eun-young “Somedayâ€.
