Imperial Breed was founded on august the 15th. 1970 by Roberto Kien, the former drummer of James Browns and George Clintons school band and media assassin Falkone "Hawkeye" Shaft.
Roberto Kien is a funk machine on the drums and people like Eddie Palmieri, Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Earl Palmer, James Gadson, Stewart Copeland, Carmine Appice, Billy Cobham and Paul Humphrey are quoted with statements like "I believe he was born with sticks in his hands" or "He got sticks instead of hands".
Beside the drumming he also records most of the musicians.
Hawkeye is born with the perfect ear, not able to read notes he likes more to hear them than name them. You try to get your music education right ?? He tries to do music, stupid !! He is doing all of the producing and mixing that is needed to be done.
All of their original compositions is done by themselfs. It got to be funky and nice to your ears !!! The plan to form the band grew after Hawkeye read an article of famous funk, rhythm & blues and soul music producer Gabriel Roth of Daptone, Soulfire and Desco fame. The technics that where revealed in that article where adapted to their own standards which can be heard. After they founded the band they recorded through the whole 70s and early 80s under different names with different players which will be revealed in the near future. Unfortunately no recordings where ever released, due to industry rule #4080.
Until in 2006 Hawkeye met world famous and legendary record collector, media assassin, disk jockey and lable owner DJ Olski. He instantly was blown away by their raw and gritty funk sound and signed them right on the spot with the vision in mind to release all of their recordings through the next years.

The band is now located in Hamburg but the players are from Hannover, Barcelona and countries and cities that you never heard of.
Some of the musicians featured on "Horny pipin bats" and "On the run" are: Tom "BIG Bass" Fritsch, Andreas Tenud, Dirk Stark, Jörg Grimm, Thomas Haupt, Birgit "Flute Vixen" Rudolph, Björn "Jimi Guitar" Wagnera and Dante "the living percussion".
