Tell future generations that I lived and fought according to my family’s creed.

About Me

In 1914, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu champion Esai Maeda migrated to Brazil, where he was instrumental in establishing a Japanese immigrant community. His efforts were aided by Gastão Gracie, a Brazilian scholar and politician of Scottish descent. As a statement of his gratitude for Gracie's assistance, Maeda taught the Brazilian's oldest son Carlos the essential secrets of the ancient martial arts technique. Renzo has his own approach to the art that his family has spent many years developing from it’s original forms as brought to them early on. Today we have the opportunity to be a part of the new era of this art called Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.Renzo has never been one to step down from a challenge and today is training hard for the future challenges that await him. From his early days as a pro surfer to today as a top MMA fighter, Renzo has been regarded as one of the most humble yet fierce competitors in the circuit. He is constantly challenging himself and those that make up Team Renzo Gracie, from the beginner student to the one’s who have stepped into the ring to become champions.
