The Gulf Coast is known for many things. The seafood, the casinos and the southern hospitality are all highly publicized. Now, five guys plan on adding another bullet to that list. Metal
Our City Burns was formed at the tail-end of 2006. Originally, Mike (the drummer) and TJ (the singer) had met while on deployment. Upon returning home, they met John (the guitarist). The three had learned that each had some bitching musical talent, and they all had a desire to set the world on fire. After forming the first few songs, they began a search for a bassist. They came upon Wes, who had just recently left another band. Mike's feet were furious, John's guitar riffs were as sharp as razors, and TJ's vocals were mighty. Having finally added the thunder of a bass to the mix, the heavens parted and the lineup was set. After much chaos bringing, the quartet began a search for one more guitar to help annihilate everything in their path. They needed look no further than their very own sound tech, Jared. His talent was undeniable, and he was embraced with open arms into the group.
Since then, the quintet have engraved their name in the local scene, setting the Coast ablaze with their hybrid of metal and hardcore music. One look at their live show, and you can understand why these guys are one of the most promising and electrifying bands to come out of the Gulf Coast in years. Over the course of just a few short months, they've managed to pack venues, share the stage with established recording artists and become a mainstay on the local radio station's Homegrown Show. Whether you are giving in to the unrelenting energy of the music, or simply trying to dodge the pits that inevitably form, you're hard-pressed to stand in one spot at the shows. Not afraid of mixing things up, they've played with bands of all different genres such as ska, punk and hardcore. They have an undeniable drive to succeed and a movement that will not be stopped. Keep your eyes on Our City Burns and their loyal group of fans, because this fire is most definitely spreading..
