PERNILLE BÉVORT …C.V. The short version. ( www.pbevort.dk )
-tenor, soprano and alto saxophone. Lately vocal as well ( flute ) , band leader and composer.
At the age of 7 Pernille started playing the recorder. When she was 14 years old she changed to the soprano saxophone and a couple of years later she bought a tenor saxophone. From that point the tenor saxophone became her favorite instrument. Bévort is educated at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen Denmark ( 1989 – 93 ) . After she graduated, she has become more and more in demand as a member of different jazz ensembles in Denmark and Sweden.
Since 1996 Bévort has been leading different ensembles mainly playing Bévort’s compositions. So far she has released 7 CD’s as a band leader. On the 6th CD : RADIO BÈVORT†Pernille performs as both saxophone player, singer, speaker, composer, lyricist and arranger in her own personal interpretation of what jazz could be.

As an acknowledgement of her work Pernille Bévort received the Ben Webster Prize ( 2001 ) and the JASA Prize ( 2003 ). November 2005 she received an artist grant from LO :

Apart from her own groups Bévort is member of several ensembles. Among others :
Erling Kroner New Music Orchestra…..this group has performed with the world known musicians Marcelo Nisinman and the singer Laura Hansen.
Ernie Wilkins Allmost Big Band….this ensemble has performed with Clark Terry, Randy Brecker and Tony Coe as featured guests.
Pernille is member of the composer association ToneArt. ToneArt represents most of the well-known composers in Denmark within jazz and related music – composers working mainly with ensembles from sextets and upwards. Pernille was chosen to be one of the composers for the ToneArt Biennale 2005. The Copenhagen Art Ensemble with added vocalist and laptop performed her music at the Copenhagen Jazz House November 5th 2005.
At the Jazzfestival in Copenhagen 2008 Pernille performed 2 concerts with RADIO BÈVORT feat. Marcelo Nisinman on bandoneon. One of these concerts were recorded. "The Band Is On" gives a little taste of the music. Marcelo is a fantastic musician and composer. He was born in Argentina but now he lives in Basel. He has been performing with among others: Gary Burton, Fernando Suárez Paz, Piazzolla Quintet and in Denmark he has been featured guest with The Tango Orchestra and The Beijbom Kroner Big Band.
The plan is to continue this collaboration and invite Marcelo again during the spring 2009. The group will then play several concerts and make a new recording with all the compositions written for this ensemble. The sound of the bandoneon together with the reed section gives the music a special sound and flavour. Since Marcelo is a very open minded and gifted musician it's possible to mix all sorts of inspiration. Tango meets jazz, meets sounds, meets chaos, meets life itself.
