Hello. My name is Dan Driver welcome to the place in which i present the latest works of my musical act 'Dr.Iver'...
Before you say anything; Yes it is just a full stop between the 'r' and the 'i' of my surname 'Driver' and no i dont think I truely deserve the title of Doctor. However, i find my name 'Dan Driver' in big letters as my stage name more artistically risky than the 'Dr.iver' thing, i dont no why, but i guess part of the reason is that if my act is shite then at least the name associated with the act isnt my birthname. Its kind of a scapegoat. Which brings me to my next point of salutation: i am a Catholic Musician. Which basically means, so i am told, that i believe in fairies and bogey men... But what it really means, in relation to 'Dr.Iver', is that my music is a source of expression for the innermost feelings of myself and my being and its relationship with the inner world and the world around it.
You will find me referencing C.S Lewis quite a lot as I love his apologetic writings
and find him one of the most intellectualy complete Englishmen alongside G.K Chesterton and a few others.
My aim is through my music to express aspects in life which have affected me most in hope that it will strike a chord that resonates an interest in you to investigate these things ideas further; like the meaning to life, suffering, beauty and ultimately God.
So on and Full on...
Dont be afraid though i have hidden all the real deep shit in allegories, tales, dramatic poems and stories that are, so i am told, energetic and entertaining. I like to think of it like the 'Chronicle of narnia' in the way that if you want to read it in light of meaning and God you can but if you just want to read it for fun you are not forced to think about its true meaning.
I am currently writing an album in a caravan on a vineyard and i will, at some point, employ a backing band....
I love writing music, though it has to be said that i cant write songs... All of my songs written after 'FUBAR' are inspired by the Seraphim, Cherubim, thrones, dominions, powers, virtues, principalities, archangels and angels.
So my songs are a kind of journey of my faith and life. Stick around if you are interested, read my blogs for further electronic literature...
//Previously whilst studying guitar at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford I worked with an artist named Phoebe Cornell, who i hope to continue working with, we recorded a track i wrote called 'Evolve' which was duplicated and released with 2 million copies of the sunday express in the UK 2007//
