Edward Adoo has become one of London's hidden secrets on the DJ circuit with his unique blend of eclectic-ness represented on the dance floor. Amongst his peers Edward is one of a few DJ's who believes in playing a mix of records that represent a varied style of genres from old skool, upfront, Electronica to Urban and beyond as supposed to representing one particular genre. Edward's route into the DJ world began at 15 after promoting a one off disco for confirmation candidates at his local church. Two hundred people jammed the church hall and rocked to a mix of Jungle, Hardcore, House and R & B. After persuading the clergy 'Saturday Night Jam' became a weekly fixture which attracted the youth of Camden, Kentish Town, Hampstead and the rest of North London. It caused fury amongst local residents but proved favorable even for former West Ham FC's star then a young Marlon Harewood and his friends. After being handed a thousand rare groove, soul, and electro, jazz, reggae and funk rarities by his Uncle Edward continued the quest of blending new and old beats in one box. A route into broadcasting proved favorable at King’s College Hospital working alongside Tom Finlay from Groove Armada then a spot as a producer for Steve Facey at Kiss 100. Edward was juggling the beats off the decks with part time jobs, a college course which led to scooping a university placement. He was determined not to give up and create a DJ foundation and continued building his props with regular DJ sets to enhance his mixing skills. Things were moving at rapid pace for Edward and a weekly radio show was secured on FLR 107.3 in South London and then a weekly spot with Jazz Extraordinaire Ed Bentley and George Williams from The Tymes to spin weekly at Reggie's Soul Cafe on Wardour Street. This enabled Edward to tap into the wider market with press reviews and support obtained from Evening Standard, Blues and Soul and Time Out. Edward was then approached by James Robertson at ‘Club On Magazine’ to launch their radio division. This spawned the creation of Circumference a specialist show and the opportunity to DJ and Broadcast to students across the nation on digital radio. Ali Tiilett from Nuphonic Records contacted Edward to host a monthly residency in conjunction with Circumference and ‘Music Xpress at the Bridge and Tunnel’ alongside other residents Ross Allen, Faze Action and Justin Robertson. Edward's sound and credibility was on the up. This opened new avenues to secure national and international bookings at the Escape Wales, Plan B, Heavenly Social, Notting Hill Carnival, Fortress Studios, Ocean Rooms – Brighton, Bar Rhumba, Kanya – Ibiza, Oxford University. Ed has also had guest spots and appearances @ The White House, Rhian Benson UK Gigs, Old Queens Head, Bar Rhumba, Eve Club and The Luminaire - Edward has formed a cult following and distinct sound. And the rest as they say is history. Ten years on and Edward's continues to be diverse as possible to please the crowd with an upfront blend of eclectic beats representing every genre from Funk, House, Electro to Hip Hop, Jazz, D & B, Dubstep, Breaks to Lounge, Down tempo cuts to other styles and beyond offering a true reflection of his love for electronic music culture.
