WHY NOT DO BOTH?Boreham Wood FC have the largest football Academy in the country for boys aged between 16-18 who will train daily, whilst gaining an education.All the information you require will be found below, so read on....WAHT IS PASE (Programme of Sporting and Academic Excellence)??PASE is the education Scheme that we run here at Boreham Wood FC. The scheme gives you the opportunity to train in a full time academy whilst gaining an education with Oaklands College.HOW LONG IS THE COURSE??The Course lasts between 1-3 years, dependant on age and GCSE grades.WHO IS IT FOR??It’s for boys who are between 16-18 years of age, that want to further their knowledge, understanding and ability in football at the same time as gaining a nationally recognised qualification in Sport.WHAT DO I STUDY?Dependant on which course you decide to take with us, will decide what you study. We offer BTEC in sport studies, which are done onsite at Boreham Wood Football Club. Construction lessons which take place at various Oaklands College Campuses, dependant on which trade you choose.We also offer A Levels which take place at Oakland College, but you will have to show a higher level of ability to be offered this opportunity as training is scheduled around your timetable.WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?We offer 4 different levels of the BTEC-The BTEC National Diploma in Sport is the equivalent to THREE A-LEVELS. It is a TWO year course and gaining FIVE C’s and above at GCSE level will allow entry to this Course.The BTEC National Certificate in Sport is the equivalent to TWO A-LEVELS. It is a TWO year course and gaining FOUR C’s at GCSE level will allow entry to this course.The BTEC National 1st Diploma in Sport is a 1 year course that allows you to progress on to the TWO year courses above. Gaining FOUR D’s and above at GCSE level will allow entry to this course.The BTEC Foundation/1st Certificate in Sport is a 1 year course that allows you to progress onto the BTEC 1st Diploma. There are NO grades needed to do this course.The courses we offer for Construction are all City & Guilds Qualifications. We offer the following-Foundation Construction Certificate (Multi-trades)- This is a 1 year course and you will need 3 GCSEs at grade E and above. Intermediate Construction Awards (Multi-Trades)- This is a 1 year course and you will need either 4 GCSEs at grade D and above or successful completion on the Foundation Certificate in Multi Trades.The courses listed below are all 1 year courses that require 3 GCSEs at grade E & above OR successful completion of the Foundation Construction Certificate in Multi-Trades. You will also have to demonstrate aptitude for the practical skills required. These courses are- Foundation Construction Award (Brickwork) Foundation Construction Award (Carpentry & Joinery) Foundation Construction Award (Plastering) Plumbing (Performing Engineering Operations) Electrical Installation (Performing Engineering Operations)WHERE DO I TRAIN?We have a 3rd Generation astro turf that all of your coaching sessions will take place on.WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING WILL I RECIEVE TO HELP ME PROGRESS?We have a structured training schedule that covers every aspect of football coaching. Your sessions will be split into 2 week blocks in which you will concentrate on a certain topic. You will also have an indoor session at the end of each block to recap on the sessions and coaching points that have been coached to you. This will also involve footage of your very own PASE games that will be played back to you on an “Andy Gray” style Smart Board as well as concentration on Nutrition and fitness regimes.AM I SUPPLIED WITH KIT?We do not allow you to train in “whatever you want”, so you will be expected to buy a training set from us. This includes a tracksuit worn for all games, a t-shirt, top, shorts and socks.DO I PLAY MY GAMES ON THE 1st TEAM PITCH?All PASE and Reserve Weekend home games are played on our 3rd Generation Astro Turf. The u18’s home games and the midweek Reserve team games are played on our Award Winning 1st team pitch.WHO WILL BE TEACHING ME?Fully qualified Tutors will be responsible for helping you gain your Academia. Your football coaching will be taken by License Coaches that have experience in coaching National squads and Professional YTS Schemes, as well as playing at a Professional level.HOW SUCCESSFUL HAS BOREHAM WOOD FC's YOUTH STRUCTURE BEEN?Our 1st team currently consists of 22 players. EIGHT of those have come through our successful PASE Scheme. We also have over 20 players that have come through our Youth structure who have gone on to play at various levels of the non league structure and above. One of our students has recently signed a two year professional contract with Barnet Football Club. As also previously stated, we have a very close link to Watford FC which has seen seven of our students train and play for their U18’s and Reserve teams. We also play against them twice a year in a competitive fixture to judge how our top students are doing. Our very successful U18’s are one of the strongest in the county. They are currently League Champions and we look set to regain that title again this term. We also reached the 2nd round proper of the FA Youth Cup this season, where we faced Swansea City. Recent years have also seen us reach the County Cup Final for the past THREE seasons, winning on TWO of them occasions, as well as Champions of the Conference NATIONAL Cup.AM I MEDICALLY LOOKED AFTER??DEFINITELY is the answer in one word. We have an outside company that cater for all our physiotherapy needs. We currently have a Physio present 3 times a week at training so all injuries can be treated. If for whatever reason the injury cannot be treated with the equipment with have on site then the students will be sent to a clinic where all the latest treatments will be at their disposal. We do not play games without a qualified physiotherapist present!WHAT OPPORTUNITIES WILL I GAIN IN A FOOTBALL SENSE?The club is designed to give you every opportunity of making it through to the 1st team. You start at In-House level. From there, you will progress to our midweek Academy level. Above that all of our scholars will be contesting for a place in our successful u18 side. If you are excelling in the youth structure then you will be invited into the reserve team which is for PASE scholars and 1st team players only.If you continue to impress then you will be invited to train with the 1st team. If you continue to show the discipline and ability needed, then who knows how muc further you can go.
