I used to have fame, fortune and the love of a beautiful woman... Wait. Wrong movie, again.
Once upon a time, there was a fairy princess... Fuck! This is getting rediculous!
Okay - I was in all the bands on the playlists below. And right now I play with another rock legend, Zack Static in The Zack Static Sect.
But enough about me, let's talk about my past...
There's this from Wikipedia:
"Alex Vincent (orignally born as Alex Shumway) was the drummer for the bands Spluii Numa and, later, the pioneering band of the grunge scene, Green River. After Green River had broken up, Vincent moved to Japan. He later moved back to America and became a lawyer."
I'm gonna forgo the Green River crap. (Blah, blah, blah...Seattle...blah, blah, blah...grunge...blah, blah, blah...Mudhoney and Pearl Jam... That's all folks!)
But wait! Did someone mention Spluii Numa ?
"(Mudhoney manager) Bob Whittaker has happier memories. 'Spluii Numa were an awesome punk band, although they also dressed up as preppies...'
"(Soundgarden bassist) Ben Sheppard has fond memories of the band as well. 'They were melodic punk rock. And Alex Shumway wore a kilt' — which was Daniel House's immediate recollection as well, along with Shumway's mohawk. 'They were a riot, really fun, irreverent. They had an awesome 'fuck you' attitude. They played with the kind of energy that only young men with an inordinate amount of testosterone raging through their bodies can muster.'"
There was this little ditty for "Bachelor Of The Month" in February '91 in the now defunct Seattle music rag, Backlash. I will now quote it for you:

"With a rock resume that's flawless, Alex Shumway, ex-Green River drummer turned world traveler turned multi-linguist turned Spooky Voodoo team member wins with his good looks, super slimness and wry, dry sense of humor that can throw you if you're not expecting it. Not hard to find, he's the one handing out all those handbills for shows that you used to think were useless. Look more carefully next time, girls. He doesn't drink, if that's your thing, and his name doesn't start with an 'F' but Alex Shumway is a FOX and this month's bachelor of the month."

Firing Squad - as the bass player, 1982 (very short lived - no recordings)
Spluii Numa 1982-1984 (there are some cassette tapes flying around somewhere out there)
Green River 1984-1987
Satisfaction Monkey 1988 (one show - no recordings)
All Over You 1991-1992, 1993-1995 (while living in Tokyo, Japan)
Solo project recording 1995 (never finished due to illness and had to move back to the States. But the unfinished tapes are sitting in my closet...)
