About Me

I am a devoted fan of the old 5 & 10's. As a kid, I would always look forward for my mom to take me downtown where we would frequently visit all the 5 & 10's. These included Grant's, Murphy's, Kress, Woolworth, McCrory's, Neisners and Kresge. Often, I've heard people say that the dollar store today is the five and dime of yesterday...not so. There was an overwhelmingly welcoming feeling every time you would walk in...and let's not forget the luncheonettes, the familiar scale, the hand possed pizzas, and those cool metal rod and cloth shopping baskets! This sight is for those who recall these great stores and have pictures and stories to tell. It is a piece of Americana that was taken for granted and now they're all gone...

THIS SITE IS EXCLUSIVELY BASED ON "THE PAST". You will NOT be added if I don't see a connection anywhere... People who loved the five & dimes! Oh, yeah, could you imagine finding the "flux capacitor", hitting 88 rpms on the DeLorean and ending up sometime in the late 50's sitting at the Woolworth's luncheonette with Tuesday Weld sitting next to you? Woo-hoo!! LOL!
