About Me

I've been home 2 days so WELCOME TO MY FABULOUS FILLE FRANCAISE. It was very nice to meet you. Message strangely delayed so join up and add me so that I can write. See latest blog. I've reached a watershed in my own life and I'm busy working on various recordings. Some new material, some old, 6 covers recorded but not yet posted, plenty to draw on for original material. You will need to switch sites to hear all my covers when they are ready. See left. If you like any of THESE songs, please tell your friends to come and listen. That's all I would ask. I'm a reluctant singer/songwriter really, playing a little bass guitar and only singing because other people backed out. I never imagined I would ever do both at the same time! The guy up there on 6 string made me do it by pushing and pushing! And when people join in with us it's a great feeling. Waiting is my debut single, about the nerves of waiting initially for a date and then for a loved one returning, only twice performed live: at the fabulous Rising Sun (solo on 6 string!) and the now sadly defunct Green Mandolin (accompanied) in August 2006. It was written mainly in 1972 and finished in 2006. Thanks to the Soundroom for all the hard work! I have done 'When a boy becomes a man' (fairly obvious what that's about but when do men talk about their feelings, if ever) with Mark BoroBoy in 05/06 at the Borough Arms (2 years'+ appearing there). These are mainly throwaways, I have some songs waiting to be recorded but, like most of you, I have to pay for recording and I was unwilling to indulge my passion for music when there were mouths to feed. But I have encouraged the mouths to feed themselves to a large extent. The youngest is 18 now. That's Mel up top singing the middle 8 in Age of Man (my anti-war old man with grandchild-in-museum song) and Yours Sincerely (just a silly love song about a letter) when she was 14, nearly 10 years ago. They are both very special children. I got involved when still at school, hooked you might say. But you can't do everything and there was a long gap. The last 2-3 years or so have been hectic, but it cannot go on like this, I am getting too old. What does the future hold? Continuing to work with the Boro Boys (see our Soundclick Site) possibly, Andy, some new people maybe(?), finishing a few songs, maybe finally putting them together into an album, maybe even adding to our wedding gig and appearances at the Ravensworth. One thing's for sure, it's not just second chance - it's last chance. (There's another song in there somewhere). But what a way to go!

Leslie

We are all so vulnerable.  I did a 10m walk this week in memory of my friend Leslie and to support her family at this time. In 2006 it was Kevin. Yes, sometimes we can all feel pretty ...
