Trumpet player from Ponce PR, trained in the classical style but actually working in what I like the most, Popular Music. My musical career starts when I was enrolled by my Father Jose (Pucho) Ruiz in the Escuela Libre de Musica de Ponce when I was 8 years old to study with the great Quique Quinones, then I start taking lessons with Roberto Ramirez at Puerto Rico Conservatory who taught me all the classical aspects of the trumpet. At the same time, I had the privillage to meet one of my hero's, Elias Lopes(EL MAESTRO),a guy that changed my lived by teaching me the most important thing in the music bussines, How to be a professional!. At that time I was doing gigs with almost every salsa band in PR. I moved to Illinois after my first degree to study with Ronald Romm(Canadian Brass) for a semester and then moved to New Jersey to study with a living legend, William B Fielder, to finish my Masters Degree. In the present I'm in the DMA program of Rutgers Univ. and playing gigs in NYC.
