I'm becoming transfixed
with nature and my part in it
which i believe just signifies
I'm finally waking up
America is a great country with democratic freedoms, a standard of living and scientific accomplishments admired the world over. But that guarantees nothing for the future. Our standard of living and environmental degradation are not sustainable, and out creation stories will provide us with little guidance tomorrow. Our accomplishments are threatened by our unwillingness to come to grips with the devastation we have wrought on native people and their environment. Instead of a nonconservative agenda that promotes even greater denial, we will need to transform our views of nature and spirit to recover ancient nature wisdom as a medicine for modern life.
