Ricky D started penning tracks since he was a child. His first song ever written was for a "band" he started with his cousin that they called "Slash n' Burn" when he was 7. It was about Freddy Krueger and the bands name came from an MTV special of the same name to promote "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare". To this day he can't remember what he wrote, except the typical Freddy's gonna get you bullshit.
Throughout his childhood Ricky touched a lot on his humorous side through variety show themed tapes he made with his cousins and friends, using both improvisational singing, freestyle rapping as well as pre written. At 15, he and close friend Shauna daSilva went under the alias Bonnie and Clyde. He wrote and vocally arranged various songs for them. Unfortunately they were never recorded, yet were praised and well known by friends and bystanders who would watch the two perform them live at parties and around downtown Gloucester, MA such as local hangouts like the YMCA Teen Center and "the square". The tracks were of hip hop motivation involving violence and sexually explicit scenarios, entirely for entertainment and shock value. On a side note, many of the songs were found and confiscated by Ricky's mom and tossed out as he is still deeply saddened by what could have become of them.
During his later years in high school he found himself hanging out more with kids involved in the underground and local music scene, be it punk, indie, prog rock or emo bands and artists. However, he was never shy in keeping the "top 40" sound surrounding him. He lost two very close friends his senior year due to terrible tragedies and became very emotionally unstable and was the furthest away from writers block as he had ever been. Aside all the humor, at this point in life he did a lot of self deflecting as well as reflecting. For the next three years found himself deep in a personal and emotionally involved writing period. His humorous side of course was still at surface, however notebooks began to fill up with very personal topics such as friends that had passed, longed for lovers, a lost relationship with God, self hatred and hopes of self loving, sex addiction, and even a relationship involving an emotionally abusive step mother from whom he suffered at the eyes and words of from age 5 to 12. He is in the process of putting many of those into musical perspective.
In 2003 his friend Jean Paul Laflam gave him a bootleg version of his first computer software program. REASON 2.5. He slowly but surely began using it to his advantage and it came in handy as he left Massachusetts and headed off to attend Full Sail Universtiy in Winter Park, FL in September of 2004. He has never been a stranger to metaphorical and mind trapping song writing, as his debut single "The Bouyoups" popped on the scene in late 2006, (a song crafted over three years prior to it's release). Primarily influenced by dance music, his definition being purely music that you can dance to whether it's pop, urban, rock, new wave, r&b, etc...., Ricky's goal has always been to get "a party started". A party that all demographics and groups of people would want to be a part of no matter what the musical sound was. To get people singing back the words and having a great time, showing TRUE raw emotion and feeling. That's what it's all about. Since adapting to the alias Ricky Diamond, he has written and produced a handful of songs post "Bouyoups" both for comic pleasure as well as to deliver personal messages for himself and others. Currently he is in the process of recording new songs as well as rerecording the old for his upcoming and first official EP, "The Diamond Sessions" which is the follow up to his DIY self release, In 3D: The Dirty Diamond Demo. His live shows are where he tends to win over new fans and deliver the best forms of entertainment to his current fans through dance, theatrics and raw energy. Of course cool lighting and video effects would be great too. :-) No stranger to performing as he once was hailed a karaoke legend, he has played a handful of shows in the central Florida area as well as a few on the west coast with songwriter/singer/producer LB Trev, ( HTTP://WWW.MYSPACE.COM/LBMUSICPAGE ) and will embark on an east coast tour with LB Trev to promote their new project ( HTTP://WWW.MYSPACE.COM/LBTREVANDRICKYDIAMOND ) as well as their solo material. So Look out for that!!! So who is Ricky Diamond? He is I and I am him chubby with the yellow grin that's MY muthafuckin' name. BITCHES!!!!! LOVE TO ALL!!!!!Ricky Diamond November 2008
