About Me

Andrew Kimball’s interest in music was sparked at an early age, listening to his father play acoustic guitar when he got home from work. After an introduction to some basic chords from his father, he fell in love with the acoustic guitar, playing for hours a day. It wasn’t long before Kimball felt the urge to explore the electric guitar, becoming greatly influenced by rock music and the solos of Angus Young. While his love for the electric guitar flourished, he maintained his original connection with the acoustic, explorring folk music and classical guitar.Kimball began writing songs soon after picking up the guitar. By his mid teens he had a band that played in New York, with a repertoire consisting of many songs written by Kimball. His sound has developed from a strong acoustic base to a heavy funk and rock influence. He describes his first time seeing George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic at the Apollo in Harlem as an almost religious experience. From his gigs in the Village and various places on the North East during his teens to his shows in a funk-soul cover band in college, Kimball has always lived off live performance. Well accustomed to the stage, he describes playing live music as the ultimate high. As he continues to write more and more original songs, his career grows and moves forward everyday.
