Check It Out... The First Review Of The New Epicycle Album "Jingo Jangle" Reviewed by Baron Saturday of Kool Kat Records who writes:

"Together and individually, multi-instrumentalist brothers Ellis and Tom Clark have helped shepherd lots of fine records by such Chicago-area artists as Kevin Tihista’s Red Terror, June & the Exit Wounds and, especially, the Chamber Strings (Ellis produced, played bass and served as Karl Wallinger to Kevin Junior’s Mike Scott on the Strings’ first album, 'Gospel Morning'). 'Jingo Jangle' is the Clarks’ third album as Epicycle, and it’s easily their best – and that’s really saying something, because 'Orange' (2000) and 'Swirl' (2002) were very impressive efforts that, as much as anything in indie rock history, proved that you don’t need a major label or mega- budget to make great sounding, imaginatively produced records. Once again, the brothers pile on their patented studio razzle-dazzle that calls to mind everyone from the Beatles, the Move, and the Mothers of Invention to T. Rex, Cheap Trick and the Pillbugs. But 'Jingo Jangle' is more sharply focused than its predecessors; more than before, the shape-shifting chicanery – including hairpin-turns in rhythm, volume, texture, vocal distortion and whatever sound effects the boys consider worthwhile – well and truly serves the songs, which are ripe with melody, wit, exuberance and, to quote the band, “I-Max sized power pop choruses.” Check out opener '8-Track Mind,' which sounds like 'Sgt. Pepper'’s 'Good Morning, Good Morning' performed Live at Budokan; the bouncy, McCartney-esque 'Girls Don’t Rule My World'; the lovely piano ballad 'Goodbye'; and 'Ode To Branson,' which features Tihista on backup vox. And that’s just the first third of this killer disc, which also features guest spots by Brad Elvis of the Elvis Brothers and Paul Mertens of Brian Wilson’s band. Six years in the making and well worth the wait!" - Baron Saturday GREAT!!!!
[♠] In case you'd like to purchase our older albums "Orange" & "Swirl" in CD format, they are available from our website: www.epicycle.co.uk or you can go directly to cdbaby.com to purchase them there as well. You will also find more information and history on Epicycle at our official website too. Please feel free to become one of our friends here at myspace and write us if you want. We're usually pretty good at getting back to people with questions.
[♠]We'd like to thank Mojo Music Magazine for including our version of "Wake The World" on their latest Beach Boys Tribute CD which is pasted on the front cover of their January 2007 issue. We are very excited to be in such good company which includes The Who and The High Llamas.
[♠]We have just uploaded our 2002 music video "I'm So Cool" here on myspace. Just click on our video tab to view it. It can also be viewed on YouTube as well.
[♠]Here's some hype!
[♠] Whatever they play, Epicycle makes music with a soft and yielding sensitivity, playing a range of songs that sound like everything from confectionery wisps to hard psychedelics.
[♠]Since 1995, they've recorded 3 albums "Orange", "Swirl", and "Jingo Jangle". These CDs have received high praise from many of the worlds top music critics, including Chicago Tribune writer Greg Kot who listed Epicycle's album "Swirl" as one of his top ten favorite discs by a Chicago Artist/2002.
[♠]They have recorded with such artists as:
Jeff Tweedy (Wilco)
John Ashton (The Psychedelic Furs)
Paul Mertens (The Brian Wilson Band)
Eric Remschneider (Filter & The Smashing Pumpkins)
The Handcuffs
Merrit Lear (The Assassins)
The Chamber Strings
June and The Exit Wounds
the late Nikki Sudden
Kevin Tihista's Red Terror
Stephen Becker's Le Concorde
The Frank Tribes Band and many others.
[♠]Their earlier vinyl records have been reissued by Rave-Up Records, in Italy, as a special LP collectors edition on 180 vinyl.
