The "OGz," originally called "Tha Outfit", was a NYC-Maryland/DC conglomerate formed in 1993, which consisted of Queens solo rappers CRI$I$ & LIKIL REG, DC rapper MR. RUCKU$, and Maryland producers Jonathan "Lighty" Williams and C-Black. Jonathan "Lighty" Williams moved to NYC in 1998 to work for his brother, Chris Lighty, at Violator Ent. Outfit Records was formed as a subsidiary in 2000, and "Tha Outfit" became known as "Tha Outfit Gangstaz," which was later abbreviated to the "OGz." Simultaneously, C-Black formed Black Cloud Entertainment in Maryland, and began to work with MR. RUCKU$.In 2001, CRI$I$ & LIKIL REG (cousins) brought along a childhood friend, CHEDDA BOY, who replaced MR. RUCKU$ as the third member, and Jonathan "Lighty" Williams assumed the role of manager. Shortly after, they released a collabo on the Violator 2.0 V2 Compilation album entitled "Die Three." They also included another childhood friend in the OGz family, DRAMILL$, who suffered an untimely death in 2003, but left behind an album worth of songs to remember him by. The OGz completed "OGz Volume I: Tha Outfit Gangstaz", which was released as an industry mixtape in 2005 off of Outfit Records featuring CRI$I$, CHEDDA BOY, LIKIL REG and hosted by D.J. Footlong.
