I've been making experimental films and videos since my senior year at Clarkstown High School when Mr. Handley let Adele Keyes and me make a film instead of writing a final paper in English Class. I decided that this would be my ambition after seeing a double feature of Kenneth Anger's SCORPIO RISING and Godard's BREATHLESS at the Bleecker Street Cinema in NYC. Another key factor in my decision to work with computers was my experiences as an audience member at some of his performances and projections and during an Antioch College co-op quarter as an assistant to Stan Vanderbeek an artist who pioneered magical transformations in film, computer, video, and other media. I also studied with Paul Sharrits at Antioch and with Nam June Paik and others at California Institute of the Arts. I was one of the first art school graduates to begin a career as an artist with media as primary medium. Since then I've been making personal works that explore structural and thematic potentials of new media.
