Fuckface Unstoppable

About Me

“Fuckface Unstoppable was founded by Clayton Hanes and Justin McGuffin in the summer of 2002. What started out as a two piece guitar and drums driven band soon turned into a three-piece with the addition of Matt Landvogt on bass. A few months later Justin purchased a Lowrey Fiesta organ and recruited Aaron Carlson to play. Matt left shortly after Aaron joined and the band continued to write songs. Aaron left the band and was replaced by Jeff Capecci. Alex Kusner joined as the new bass player and the band continued on as an improved instrumental four-piece centered around the organ, odd song structures, and a pension for all things nautical. An album was recorded with this new line-up, but it was never released and very few copies exist.

The first show with this line-up was in the summer of 2007. Fuckface Unstoppable continued to play out until Alex left and the band went on a hiatus for a few months. Matt rejoined the band in the beginning of 2008. With the new line-up Fuckface Unstoppable had a new found energy and revamped sound. The band went on to play many memorable shows that year with bands such as Bad Dudes, Thunderunderus, and The Softrocks. The aural and visual assault created by the four was their signature. Under the guise of matching uniforms and a shower of colored strobe lights they could burn through one razor sharp, blistering punk chirp and then fall into a seven minute improvised cosmic freak out and not lose a single step or pair of ears. Their ability to swagger in and out of so many musical genres and not lose their powerfully raw and savage sound was starting to earn them attention. It was hard to find another band at the moment that had so much control while on stage.

In the fall of 2008 the band set forth on recording and producing a new full length album and went on another longer hiatus from playing live to record what should've been their finest effort yet. The band spent most of the winter and spring of 2009 recording and engineering this new album and didn't play out until May. The next show was the third to last and it happened to be with Upsilon Acrux. With work on the album constantly getting pushed back and growing creative differences coupled with internal problems it seemed the future was hazy for the four. It was after this that the band decided to pull the plug and pursue other efforts. The final show was booked in October of 2009 and it was to be the release of their album "Down With The Ship!" which was finished days before the show, it was their swan song, a final note if you will. The last show was one of their best and like most of their other performances you just had to be there to get it.”

Since the downfall of Fuckface Unstoppable some of the ex-members have been working on a new project which should be playing live by the spring of 2010. Thanks to everyone who showed us support, came to our shows, played with us, and pushed us. I’ll post some better songs soon, I promise. Try not to miss us too much.
