My name is Inie and I am a singer and songwriter from Sheffield, the fourth largest city in England. I have been operating on the local music scene for twenty years, performing at various festivals, voicing on dubplates and radio jingles and countless recording sessions. Some of my earliest memories are of listening to my mother singing around the house where our family lived in the Pitsmoor area of Sheffield, England. I was often mesmorised as a child by the beautiful sound that came from her voice, sadly for the rest of the world, she was and remains to be, an undiscovered singing talent, although she still commands some respect for her abilities in the church that she regularly attends.Singing seemed to be a natural thing for me to do and enjoy doing and I was often complimented on my singing by other family members and friends. During my years in middle school I was a consistent member of the school and church choir. When my voice broke at the around 12/13 years old, I thought that was going to be the end of any hopes of being able to sing in the future and for a few years I never did.It wasn't long after this that I discovered the underground Reggae Sound System scene of Sheffield and at the age of 14 along with a group of friends formed Embassador Sound System (later Emperor Tone) running our own little discos in schools and community centres in our local area. All except one or two of our members were still at school. We were involved in a few challenges (sound clashes) in those days against sounds who we would regularly brush aside with carefully selected rare and hard to find reggae tracks played at the right time for maximum impact. Considering our young age, we commanded a lot of respect on the local dance scene. Many of us would experiment with the latest dj/toasting styles, live over the microphone in the dances and this was my first real introduction to writing and creating my own original lyrics. The singers that were most popular during those days were all very strong songwriters and performers. I remember going to see Gregory Isaacs perform at the Top Rank club in Sheffield and thinking that he was as great performing live as he sounded on record and being amazed. It was through exposure to these great performers that I finally began to consider writing and singing songs myself.I am presently doing collaborative studio work with various Sheffield producers, including 3ken, who is in my top friends on this page and Mongoose who produced the 'Do You Remember' track.Thank you to everybody who is passing by my page and showing some love, it is much appreciated. More of that everytime.MORE TRACKS VIA THE "INIE TOO" LINK IN MY TOP FRIENDS.SLU-DEMAGAIN!
