James Steel is a professional musician and teacher based in London. Currently working with up and coming artist Jon Paul Palombo, James has several years of experience playing in a variety of situations. After moving to London from his hometown of Glasgow he spent the next four years gaining a diploma in popular music performance as well as a bachelor of music degree. Upon completing his degree he has continued to play and teach in London and the rest of the UK. Influences: Bass influences would have to include Bernard Edwards, James Jamerson, Willie Weeks, Stuart Zender, Pino Palladino, Meshell Ndegeocello, Andrew Levy, Nathan East, Marcus Miller and Janek Gwizdala. In terms of bands and artists, there is this lot and a whole lot more - Jamiroquai, Average White Band, Miles Davis, Chic, John Mayer, Marvin Gaye, Erykah Badu, Nightmares On Wax, Roy Hargrove, The Roots, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Brand New Heavies, John Martyn, Jill Scott, John Coltrane, Curtis Mayfield, Sting, Natalie Gardiner, Talvin Singh and Donny Hathaway.
Sounds Like: Hopefully somewhere close to some of the above.
