Both Akili and Tariq were born in California and both ventured to the neon confines of Las Vegas for a lifestyle change. Tariq was previously signed as part of a group but the deal fell apart and decided to pursue a solo career. Akili was just a soulful kid looking to breakout of the dirty desert landscape as an emcee. The two crossed paths and silently admired each other..s show. After finally coming together, the two realized that they complimented each other very well. Tariq with his Boom-Bap energy and ..live.. high octane rhymes and Akili with his laid back ..soul..ful approach. After comparing music and finding that they are both emcees and producers, the entities decided to join forces and give birth to LiveSoul.
Together since 2000, LiveSoul has slowly gained a cult following. After teasing people with the Black Transit album, LiveSoul was in high demand in the local scene. In the past couple of years, LiveSoul has rocked stages with the likes of Little Brother, dead prez, Immortal Technique, Nice & Smooth, Goapele, Wordsworth, Oddisee, The Chapter, Asheru, One Be Lo and many more.
