I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm Elsie. I've been married for two years now to my husband, Shaun. We have been together for eight years now! Wow! We live in Olympia with our two black labs, Allie and Moose and cat Maize. We joke that we don't need any kids with those two around. They get into enough trouble. In June of 2005 I graduated from the UW - not that I've used that degree much. I'm working full-time for my church with the Children's department. I mostly work with preschoolers. I love the kids and I love the feeling that I can hopefully show them God's love and it will stick with them as they grow up. I have to admit that I've probably learned more than they have.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Music:

I listen to most music as long as there is no rap, heavy metal and I can understand the words. My pet peeve is music where you can't understand what the words are. Favorites are: Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Howie Day, Keith Urban, Gary Allan, The Fray ...

Movies:

My all-time favorites are You've Got Mail and Pride and Prejudice (old and new), but I would say my favorite recent movies I've seen is In Her Shoes and Failure to Launch. Basically, if it is a typical chick flick - I will like it.

Television:

Well... I finally got cable! (for football season, of course) which means I can watch my favorites like What Not to Wear, Property Ladder, and Flip That House. Now that summer is over, my regulars are Grey's Anatomy and Desparate Housewives. My husband and I watch House and CSI together. He also tries to throw in some Man Vs. Wild or Survivorman stuff... weird.

Books:

The best series I've read in a long time are the Shopaholic books. They are my current favorite. I love Nicholas Sparks and I'm reading his newest novel, The Choice.I want to re-read Pride and Prejudice. I finally had to buy a new one because I lost the old one.
I thought it was interesting how true this quiz actually was. Most of them are way off.

You Are Likely an Only Child
At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated.
At work and school, you do best when you're organizing.
When you love someone, you tend to worry about them.

In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic.
Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management.
You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books. The Birth Order Predictor

Missing Keys

Today I was working at my second job. Usually I'm in a grumpy mood on these days because I get scheduled on my day off from the church. Today though, I was kinda in the mood to get out of the house an...

The Story of Mazie the Cat

My husband, Shaun, is a self-proclaimed cat hater. He hates cats - when he goes to peoples houses where they have cats, he usually tortures the cat(s). His mom had a cat for years, which was missing a...

And Unfortunately...

Today I had an adventure. It started out like any normal Sunday morning... got up, picked out something to wear, put on my make-up... all that normal stuff. Today though, instead of wearing my routine...

A Venture to the Unknown

My husband talks about his childhood... growing up in Texas. Texas seems to be the thing that all other places are compared too. I've done my share of traveling - I've been down to New Mexico and as f...

A couple Moose anecdotes...

So, Moose has been pretty good lately. Other than the fact that several weeks ago he escaped from his crate (I think that was partly my fault) and locked himself into the downstairs bathroom where he ...

The Day of Pee

This is officially the Day of Pee for me. Here's why: 4:00 a.m. - I woke up to my dog (Moose, of course) peeing in my bedroom right by the door. Apparently he could not hold it any longer. 4:05 a.m. -...

What can I say... it's Moose.

So last night I'm SLEEPING in my bed (which is new by the way). Shaun and I went to bed semi-early because he has a big softball tournament this weekend that he had to get up really early for. So, aro...

Technical Difficulties

So last week my computer completely crashed at work. Considering basically everything I do requires a computer, this was a problem. Unfortunately, our computer guy here at the church was on vacation a...

So I am off to Camp Ghormley with the youth group. It should be a really fun weekend and I'm excited about it. I always have fun once I get there, but I'm usually completely worn out by the time we ge...
