About Me
The Honor Music Group is the brainchild of Karen Marie Mason, a 20-year industry veteran, who started her career as a marketing executive at Sony Music in New York, and later continued as head of Black Music Marketing at East/West/Elektra Records under the tutelage of Sylvia Rhone, now chairman of Motown Records. Over the years she developed and executed marketing plans for groups as varied as En Vogue, Gerald Levert, Kam, Tracy Chapman, Ziggy Marley, Kris Kross, Cypress Hill and the Fugees. After leaving the corporate world to pursue her life long commitment to Motherhood, Karen launched Destiny Entertainment as the main marketing arm of superstar Mary J. Blige. Destiny later morphed into the Honor Music Group, a management, marketing and communication firm with a focus on artist management and song placement in film and television. In addition Karen stays well connected to who’s who in the industry as one of the top location scouts in the country. Her clients/videos include Ciara, 50 Cent, Yung Jeezy, Young Joc, Lil Wayne and many more. Most recently she was the location scout for Tyler Perry Productions working on “Daddy’s Little Girlsâ€, “Why Did I Get Married†and “Meet The Browns†2008 release.
