About Me

My name is Lowell, but one of the guys at my rugby club began calling me Lowell Sample, which was eventually shortened to "Sample".
I played rugby for most of my life and I would usually hang-out at the clubhouse on Thurdays and Saturdays. I was the Secretary for the United Rugby Club.
I have decided to hang up my rugby boots as there was too much political bullsh!t. I was recently swarn in to the Royal Westminster Regiment (Canadian Army Reserves). I had to under go eye surgery as my vision was to poor to join. My Uncle was a member of the "Westies", my father was in the Sea Cadets at the same armory and my grandfather was in the navy during WWI. So there have been a few members of my family that have served before me.
As for my ancestry, the first member of my family to come to North America was from Ireland in the 1600's, while my great grandmother was of the clan MacDonald of Glencoe from Scotland. The remainder of my family heritage is mostly English and Welsh with some French, German and my grandfather was born in Bermuda.
*My co-workers, friends and family know me to change my looks every couple of monthes, whether it's a beard, a goat, short spiked blonde, crimson or long black hair. I've even had a mohawk from time to time. Usually after watching my NIN DVD I get the urge to cut it like Robin Finck. When I do that it is fairly long so I can still look "normally" from time to time. I do have the mohawk at the moment, but when I begin my training that will have to go.

There are two types of surgery, lasik and PRK. Lasik, (the type I had) is where a device is put on the eyes surface and cuts a ring round the cornea and then the cornea "flap" is pulled back. The las...

The Royal Westminster Regiment (Canadian Reserve)

Several monthes ago I applied to join the "Westies" as an infanty soldier. I found out my eye sight was classed as V4, which would limit me to trades such as SigOp or ComTech. So I saved up my money...

Stellenbosch Laws to change the shape of rugby

I while back the IRB tested some variation of the laws in South Africa. The laws apparently took the players a while to get use to but the results looked like it would improve the game. Some of these c...

RWC 07 - S. Africa v Argentina

Argentina's handling errors gave the Springboks their appearance in the final. Countless knock-on and at least two interceptions were directly responsible for Springbok tries. South Africa was not ...

RWC ’07 - France vs England

Well it was a very close with the two teams being within three points of each other for most of the match. England began with an amazing quick unconverted try but then the lack luster-kicking match b...

RWC ’07 - Possibility for a very unusual Final

While I was at work it occurred to me that the final four teams are from only two pools.  This being said, it means if both South Africa and England win or if both lose, both the Final and Consolatio...

RWC 07 - a bit of playoff history

England (in RWC'91) is the only team to have finished 2nd in their pool and made it to the semi-finals. That year they beat France 19-10 to knock them out of the tournament. Not only that, but it was...
