DJ Dartanyen

Born in Zweibruechen, Germany Dartanyen moved to the United States in the early 90’s. However he did not settle in one place, moving frequently to such places as the country of Panama, and the US territory of Puerto Rico. Dartanyen found solace in music and the dynamics in which it was played. Fascinated by the intricacies of music, he found himself drawn to electronic music, which was prevalent in Puerto Rico. The energetic DJ’s, style of music and the manner in which it was played inspired Dartanyen to begin DJing himself at the age of 14.Dartanyen has always had an affinity for drums, so it was only fitting that he started with Tribal House, and Drum and Base. Always looking for a new and different sound he started incorporating Trance and Electro into his mixes. After moving back to the United States, Dartanyen started to make a name for himself. Performing at raves, and underground events his ability to combine different and expressive genres set him apart from other disc jockeys. Dartanyen’s talent and popularity afforded him the ability to work and perform for Moonshine Records, Ultra Records, and The Ministry of Sound.Playing at a club one night Dartanyen was introduced to Joel Thorner (a former resident disc jockey at the infamous Studio 54.) Joel mentored Dartanyen on the nuances of mixing 70’s disco. Often using only the equipment available during the 70’s to practice he mastered the art in a short time. Taking the talent needed to mix 70’s disco and combining it with the skill needed to mix modern Electronic music has set Dartanyen apart from many of his colleagues.Now a well traveled DJ, having played at clubs in New York City, Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, San Antonio, and El Paso, Dartanyen has developed a fresh and unparalleled style. The future for Dartanyen promises to bring more success, as both a solo artist and a talented disc jockey. Currently working on more remixes and his first album, things are looking promising in the upcoming years.
