Will Acree

About Me

Will Acree is a Louisville-based songwriter that is currently working in the group The Uprising with Adam Renner(guitar), Drew Gray(bass), and Justin Combs(drums). He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and writing music by age 13. With well over 100 songs in his writing arsenal, shows can become marathon sessions. His last group, The Medicine Dog, was well known for shows that clocked in at around 3-3 1/2 hours. Will's father was a country musician that played guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Therefore, music was a constant in the Acree household. With influences that run the spectrum from the heavy sounds of Ace Frehley or Joe Perry to the funky, country rhythms of Waylon Jennings or Willie Nelson to the story-telling styles of Townes Van Zandt or Guy Clark, Will's music is as eclectic as it is unique. His guitar playing is earthy and unpolished which often leads to some rather raucous live performances. All of this combines with the performing/songwriting talents of Adam Renner, Drew Gray, and Justin Combs to create a truly unique musical experience in The Uprising.
