About Me

Music is in Jackie Follett's blood. An uncle sang with the Seattle Opera, another played violin with the Portland Symphony, and an aunt was a professional pianist. Jackie began writing music at the age of ten, and while in high school was discovered by Rick Shorter, who signed her to a deal with the Verve label. There she worked with Rick, Jerry Shoenbaum, and Tom Wilson. Jackie's song, 'There's A Moment' and Rick's song, 'I Am What I Am' were released in the US and UK. Craig Jamieson's Modern Lover's website recently rated 'I Am What I Am' in the top 3 of the best in Northern soul, writing "'I Am What I Am' manages to be more than just another soul song. By incorporating instrumentation like the farfisa organ, a keyboard more associated with garage bands like The Seeds, it becomes a unique synthesis between mid-sixties soul and garage punk." Jackie received her BA from Connecticut College and has performed in the US and abroad, also working in commercials, and in the Nashville music scene. The first single off her new CD is out now and takes her back to her R&B roots. You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !
