Little Black Dress

About Me

Little Black Dress, a Manitoba made folk/roots-southern gospel-country trio compiled of singer songwriters Lynsay Perkins, Vanessa Kuzina and Melissa Plett. With smooth, unique and powerful three part harmonies, clever lyrics and an array of catchy and classic elements to each song, Little Black Dress fits just right. The Dresses coordinate a wardrobe of rollicking rhythm guitar, haunting harmonica, fluttering flute, mysterious mandolin, silky saw and thundering thud-bucket bass, and always catching eyes and ears with alluring accoustic accessories. "Little Black Dress is anything but formal. With a laid-back, rootsy sound, their live shows feel like an old-fashioined night around the campfire - alternating between soulful harmonies, and a foot-stomping good time." - Joanne Kelly Shaw TV.Melissa Plett and Vanessa Kuzina first shared the stage as solo artists at the 2005 Winnipeg Folk Festival. It wasn’t until two years later when the girls united, along with Lynsay Perkins, for a one-night collaboration show at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg. What was to be a simple evening of music quickly developed into what is now known as, Little Black Dress.Since then, the girls have played many venues throughout Manitoba and Ontario including the Folk Festival Folk Exchange, various events and fundraisers captivating audiences when on a small festival stage, coffee house, soft seater theatre or to have a rollicking ho down.Whether Little Black Dress is singing of a freewheeling adventure (Runaway), personal loss (If Grandma Could Sing) or evolution of the world (South Beach Casino), these three women will take you along for a fun and emotional ride the entire show through.“...after the first show was blown away by not only the individual talent of these three singer songwriters but fell in love with their rootsy and fun collective sound. If they are this good now I can only guess what’s in their future!!! Looking forward to more.” -Brian Barkley (CJOB / Power 97 Radio Personality)“Great fun hearing the Little Black ‘dresslets’! The evening was one of the best lineups of local female talent I have seen at the Folk Club. I am excited to see what will happen with "Little Black Dress" as they continue to meld with each other.” - Miriam Neuman (Fiddle player from Beggar's Brawl)ModMySpace Profile Customizer
