About Me

My name is Chaarles Ashley Willimon, and I am a St. Louis native who has made his home in North Carolina. I have been playing music solo and with several groups in NC and in St. Louis for nearly ten years. Currently, I am working on a solo album for later this year. br Towards the end of high school, I was in a few unharolded punk and grunge bands in STL, but my musical side-career really started in 1999 with my college roomie Nowell and by musical brother Taylor. This relationship sparked a band that has been on the burner for nearly over nine years. Originally called Writing in the Grey, changed to Long Time Coming, and currently existing as The Scooter Pirates; Taylor and I still collaborate today and we are working on our second album.

I also have been lucky to be a part of several other successful and musically fulfilling groups over the past six or seven years. I was the bass player/bg vox for the college jam band called The Deloris Revenge (originally coined The Papa D. Band); the bassist//bg vox for the Davidson based Blues/Rock band Tumblin' Dice; the guitarist/bg vox for the duo known as The Isms; and the co-composer of the electronc group once called Z-TaQoz. I also relished the oppurtunity to write music with and play behind Tennessee-based recording artist Julie Hirsh.

I have accompanied many other local bands as a guest musician or accompaniest. These bands include but are not limited to: Billy Jones and the Pocket, Metaphorius, The Innuendos, Don Eidman, Attila's Honey, and several other solo artists.

Right now, aside from the Scooter Pirates, I am playing and writing music with a few other groups:

In The Orsons, alongside Tex Santos and DJ Gristle, I play acoustic and electric guitar, bass, ukulele, and sing (as do we all). We all share equal parts in the songwriting.

In the Vel-Crows, with Todd Farmer and a revolving door of other musicians, I play guitar and sing harmony.

I am the singer/songwriter for the Charlotte based alt/folk group Sandcrawler. Other members include John Burns of bass and Chris Steude ..s and mandolin. .http://www.myspace.com/Modules/PostTo/pages/?c=%3cimg+src%3 d%22http%3a%2f%2fcache.reverbnation.com%2fwidgets%2fbuffer.g if%22+height%3d%224%22+%2f%3e%3cbr%2f%3e%3cembed+type%3d%22a pplication%2fx-shockwave-flash%22+src%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcach e.reverbnation.com%2fwidgets%2fswf%2f10%2fschedule.swf%3fban dId%3dartist_222400%26backgroundcolor%3dEEEEEE%26font_color% 3d000000%26view%3dsmart%26posted_by%3dartist_222400%22+heigh t%3d%22247%22+width%3d%22434%22+%2f%3e%3cbr%2f%3e%3ca+href%3 d%22http%3a%2f%2fwww.reverbnation.com%2fc.%2fa4%2f10%2f22240 0%2fArtist%2f222400%2fArtist%2flink%22%3e%3cimg+alt%3d%22Cha rles%2520Ashley%22+border%3d%220%22+height%3d%2219%22+src%3d %22http%3a%2f%2fcache.reverbnation.com%2fwidgets%2fcontent%2 f10%2ffooter.png%22+width%3d%22434%22+%2f%3e%3c%2fa%3e%3cbr% 2f%3e%3cimg+src%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcache.reverbnation.com%2fw idgets%2fbuffer.gif%22+height%3d%224%22+%2f%3e%3cimg+style%3 d%22visibility%3ahidden%3bwidth%3a0px%3bheight%3a0px%3b%22+b order%3d0+width%3d0+height%3d0+src%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fwww.rev erbnation.com%2fwidgets%2ftrk%2f10%2fartist_222400%2fartist_ 222400%2ft.gif%22%3e%3ca+href%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fwww.quantcas t.com%2fp-05---xoNhTXVc%22+target%3d%22_blank%22%3e%3cimg+sr c%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fpixel.quantserve.com%2fpixel%2fp-05---xo NhTXVc.gif%22+style%3d%22display%3a+none%22+border%3d%220%22 +height%3d%221%22+width%3d%221%22+alt%3d%22Quantcast%22%2f%3 e%3c%2fa%3e%3cimg+style%3d%22visibility%3ahidden%3bwidth%3a0 px%3bheight%3a0px%3b%22+border%3d0+width%3d0+height%3d0+src% 3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcounters.gigya.com%2fwildfire%2fIMP%2fCXNI D%3d2000002.0NXC%2fbT*xJmx*PTEyMzA5MzQ2OTQ1NjImcHQ9MTIzMDkzN DY5ODQ4NCZwPTI3MDgxJmQ9YXJ*aXN*JTVGc2hvd3MlNUZmaXJzdCU1Rmdlb iZuPW15c3BhY2UmZz*xJnQ9Jm89N2VmMGU3ZjE5MDQ4NDViYjg5MjBmYmViY zExZWYxMjY%3d.gif%22+%2f%3e
