Pot, van Lienen & Baumgarten

About Me

In 1992 Peter Pot and Arie van Lienen, two diatonic accordion players, met for the first time as musicians. Since then they've been playing with each other in harmony. But there are important differences. Arie is a more emotional kind of person and writes melancholic music with clear French and Celtic influences. Peter used to be a drummer; and his music tends to be more rhythmical. Pot is always interested in experimentation, new musical approaches and in tension in the music.I joined this duo in 1996. Nowadays I also contribute my own compositions to the repertoire of the group; Speeldoosje features three of my compositions, among which the title track, Speeldoosje. Improvisation is becoming more and more important for us. There are strong jazz influences on this CD, and jazz is my greatest musical love, so I'm even more happy about the way this CD has turned than I was about the previous one.Despite enthusiastic critics from all over the world for our first CD, for some reason we're not invited to festivals outside of the Netherlands yet - while I can assure you we would be happy to play and travel everywhere... I hope our new CD Speeldoosje will change this strange situation! We recorded this CD in my house, so now I've learned to be a recording engineer as well.If you want to order this CD, please send an e-mail.
