“Sax in the City†(Apria Records), is a captivating compilation of 11 top women jazz instrumentalists that offers an intriguing overview of what’s happening on the jazz scene today. As appealing as the music itself is the fact that all profits will be donated to a variety of organizations that provide support to women faced with breast cancer. The CD was released in 2004 and funds have already been donated to The Breast Cancer research Foundation, Breast Cancer Action, and The Sarcoma Foundation. The project was conceived and produced by saxophonist Laura Dreyer, who was inspired by her own recent breast cancer scare. Says Dreyer, “I was amazed and deeply moved by the organizations that were in place to provide emotional support, financial aid, education, medical care, and more. I was lucky that my situation did not turn out to be breast cancer, but through my experience I gained a deeper understanding of what women (and sometimes men!) who are faced with this disease must deal with. My hope is that the profits generated from this CD will help fund those charities and organizations that make such a tremendous difference in the lives of so many people. I am extremely grateful to all of the musicians who generously contributed their songs to this and hope that this music will be enjoyed my many people!â€All of the compositions are originals by the participating musicians, who perform with their respective ensembles. The artists are:Laura Dreyer (alto saxophone)
Sue Terry (alto saxophone)

"Such a beautifully concieved CD by some incredible women in progressive jazz. The music is breathtaking and extremely captivating. One of the best releases note- for- note that I've heard for 2005. Hands down a worthwhile investment for all the right reasons."--Albert Khalis Pride, Jazz Exodus
