About Me

Hi,
My name is Mikael, and my take on things is that life is really amazing and difficult all at the same time, and the challenge is to appreciate the amazement more and complain about the difficulty less.
I am a warm and compassionate person, although I am also very in tune with the sadness and pain in the world, which makes me more introspective sometimes. But I also have a playful, light-hearted, more social side to me as well. Writing and songwriting and music have always helped me to see the sun through the storms, and to express myself -- my hopes and fears, anger and joy, apathy and excitement, and thoughts and feelings that seem to come from nowhere.
Half way through my junior year in college, I am currently taking time away from school to make music and travel the states and explore the world. I spent six months backpacking around Brazil, and fell in love with the culture, and met many good natured international peers along my travels. I hope to make it to as many countries as I can in the next few years, as well as continuing to travel the U.S.
I've worked in graphic design, in restaurants, in internet related work and research, and in retail sales to save up money for living and traveling. But my main passion is as a songwriter and recording artist. I'm not much for small talk, or telling entertaining stories or anecdotes, but when I sing and song-write I feel connected to something beyond myself that I can't quite explain, like words and melodies are falling from the atmosphere like snowflakes, and all I have to do is be still enough to catch them.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

kind and thoughtful people, who care for themselves and the world around them. People who are not just passing through life, but passionately participating in it. People who enjoy what they have without becoming materialistic. People who recognize and value their own gifts without becoming arrogant. People who know that all surfaces are just canvases for unveiling deeper expression, and that the truest beauty is something that radiates from within.
