Formed from the ashes of various collective and individual projects over the years between its members (including HALON, Mazinga Phaser and others), MRDR began to take shape in May 2006 when Chicago transplants Riki Bryan and Matthew Taplinger butted heads at a 5/20 BBQ. From there on, jam sessions emerged out of the basement, and longtime friend Jed Robertson started making trips from Detroit to the Windy City to play and record new material. By December 2006, the band was fully functional and based in Chicago's Wicker Park vicinity, playing its first gigs in March 2008 in the same week @ the Double Door and Empty Bottle, respectively. Heading into the Summer of 2008, MRDR began writing and recording new material with a full-length still in the production process, while simultaneously searching for new methods of mind expansion and bourbon consumption... Now based in both Chicago and Brooklyn, NY, the current lineup functions as a 3-piece, consisting of its remaining Chicago members, Jed Robertson and Matthew Taplinger, as well as recent addition Chris Erin on trumpet.
