About Me

Simone Croes, bassplayer, teacher, producer from Amsterdam, Holland Short biography: Simone started playing guitar at age 9 inspired by her brother. At age 13 she switched to bass, which became her greatest love! In 1995 Simone does her first TV performance in de 'Margeet Dolmanshow' of comedian Paul Haenen. June 1997 Simone graduated from the Hilversum Conservatory (now fused with Amsterdam) as the first female bassguitarplayer. August 1997 peformance on the CD 'Alankomat' with 'the Nits' . December 1997/ january 1998 several performances in Havana, Cuba as Simone's salsaband 'Perfume de Salsa' hooks up with Cuban salsagroup 'Anacaona'. July 1999 tour through South Africa where the band 'Afro Vibes' performs on the Grahamstown Jazzfestival. October 2000 project with Dutch Scratchchampion and DJ 'Kipsky' August 2001 Simone becomes a teacher at Muziekschool Amsterdam Zuid-Oost. In 2003 Simone also becomes a bassguitarteacher at the Music Academy of the ISA Amstelveen. March 24 2002 Simone performs with Felix and Julius Pastorius and many other bassplayers (http://jacop.net/news4.html) on 'Used to be... a tribute to Jaco Pastorius', conductor: Victor Bailey. June 2002 Simone tours Holland with Suthukazi Arosi (Best Southern African Artist Kora Award 1997). May 2002-now Simone joins groovy band 'Too Hot To Handle' which does several theater tours with Dutch stand up comedians like Javier Guzman, Sara Kroos and Claudia de Breij (see photo). More highlights with 'Too Hot To Handle': June 2004 tour in Syria, August 2004 performance with Ron Powell (Percussionist with Madonna, Kenny G. Mariah Carey)and June 2007: Performance with Rene Froger. With other projects: December 2005 another performance with Suthukazi (see video) February 2007 Simone has performed with Dutch TV host Ivo Niehe with his TV programme 'the Theatershow' in the royal theater Carre, Amsterdam. In this show she also performed with Andre van Duin and Liesbeth List. September 2008: Performance with Angela Groothuizen. March 2009 Performance in Paradiso with Ellen Ten Damme en Saskia Laroo with the 'Women in Paradise' project. Currently I'm also workin on my own songs for a bassloaded CD **** To be continued......
