Darkmoon Rising

About Me

The band was formed in the spring/summer, 1999. At first, it was called Vendol. On February 4, 2000 the name was changed to Darkmoon Rising. Ivan Naydenski (guitar) and Boyko Dimitrov (bass) formed the band. In the beginning of summer '99 Atanas Naydenov (guitar), Martin Tzvetkov (vocals) and Gergana (drums) joined the band. After a month Boyko left the band and Ivan took the bass. The new guitar player at Ivan’s place was Dani Pregyov. In that memberline Darkmoon Rising started creating their extreme black metal. Their first live appearance was on 5 February 2000 at the metal fest in Blagoevgrad. After that concert Dani Pregyov left the band and started a techno-sound project called "Sun40". The new guitar player in Darkmoon Rising who came after Dani was Nikolay Velev (Samhain, Call Me Highness). Nik put symphonic influences into Darkmoon Rising's music and he supported and helped the band a lot. Nik was the best guitar player the band needed. Then Darkmoon Rising took up the new sympho ways of black metal. In some of their songs you can find Swedish death metal riffs and atmospheric keyboard parts. In hard times for the band Gergana (drums) left and Ilian Velev joined the band as the new drummer. He possesses good playing technique and set a new way of their sound and music progress. The first recordings of the band were gathered in the demo "Tales of Euphoria". There are 3 songs: "As The Darkmoon Rises...”, "Stigmatic Signs" and "Tales Of Euphoria". In the summer of 2001 the band started working on some new songs for the recordings of their second demo called "As the Darkmoon Rises". All lyrics were written by Ivan, all music - by Nikolay and Atanas. In the next years playing live on concerts and metal festivals was a priority. In 2002 the demo "As The Dark Moon Rises" was released by the band on its own. A year after, Darkmoon Rising signed with Pighouse Records for a re-release of the demo "As the Dark Moon Rises" in a split with another black metal band, Primitive Angel. Darkmoon Rising played at the biggest metal festivals in Bulgaria (Winter Storms, Rock Predel, Death is not dead, Bloodfest etc.) In September 2003, Atanas Naydenov left the band and went to study and to compose extreme music in Sweden. He was replaced by Alexander Kondev on guitars. Alexander also plays in the other black metal act with Ivan Naydenski and Nikolay Velev - Grond. In anno 2005, Ilian left the band for personal reasons. Currently Darkmoon Rising are still searching for the proper drummer to replace Ilian and resume the recordings and plans for upcoming debut album called "Durance Of Hate"... Contact Tables
