About Me

Greg "Twoshirts" Hathaway has been entertaining crowds as a singer, guitar/bass player and songwriter for a couple of decades. He's toured back and forth across Canada many times and played almost every venue up and down, in and around BC with Vancouver's legendary Roots Roundup (folk/funk/roots/rock/reggae) and later with the Rootabeggers. For the past four years he's been playing bass and singing with Dubfreque a reggae-dub original/cover band.
Needing another outlet for some of his original material, he teamed up with songwriting partner Laurie Winter (local Vancouver poet/lyricist, see myspace.com/saffronsound) and together they've written an album and a half's worth of melodic tunes with lots of new material in the works.
The recordings posted here are "bedroom demos" of a few of the songs that will be re-recorded in a proper studio with a full band once time / finances / planets align... soon come, as they say!
Hathaway and Winter like to cross musical boundaries in their writing and musicality, delving into rock, folk, alt-country, reggae, dub, singer-songwriter, and blues. Singer Greg Hathaway's love of reggae seeps through on songs like Tamarind Girl and Quiet Man, but he weaves his way through a tight set that includes skanky grooves, lovely ballads, folky tunes and a little bit of rebellious rock with strong guitar rhythms and beautiful harmonica lines.
