Morry Trent

About Me

Morry Trent may be a rising songwriter/guitarist on the Nashville music scene, but his growing body of work clearly reflects that his roots remain firmly planted in the mountains and valleys of East Tennessee where he was born and raised. He began writing poetry at the age of eight, and it was only natural that he would soon discover and adopt the guitar as the preferred instrument for the expression of his art. A totally self-taught musician, he honed his craft singing and playing for several years in bar bands in Tennessee and Florida, frequently using those venues to perform his own original material. After graduating from Belmont College with a B.B.A. degree in Music Business, Morry spent the next 13 years working for AFTRA/SAG Nashville, becoming that organization’s Assistant Executive Director and developing a wide range of contacts in the music business. In 2003, he resigned his employment with AFTRA/SAG to devote full time to the pursuit of a songwriting career under the name of Halos & Horns Music Publishing. He has collaborated with some of Nashville’s best and brightest songwriters and artists, veterans and newcomers alike. His catalog of work includes songs written with such talented writers as Kim Williams, Kim Tribble, Rick Tiger, Johnny Reid, and Jerry Kilgore. Morry has had songs recorded by Jerry Kilgore, Travis List, Darron Norwood, David Byrnes and Australian artist Sandra Humpries.Morry and his wife, Mickey have two sons, Griffin and Gavin. They reside in Franklin, Tennessee.
