About Me

Sorry this page has been neglected for a while Wooden Tit is on hiatus - has been since November (more below). James moved 30 miles out of town, Don is getting ready to do a Bassholes record and a solo record, and we have one enthusiastic possible bass player.Wooden Tit had a great time in Italy in November of 2007 with the Intellectuals. There is footage on youtube of a fantastic show we played in an old stone house in the country 20 mi. outisde of Florence/Fiorenza. We got to meet the wonderful people at Hate in Roma, and we got to hang out with good friends like Jack and Lili and Lou and Christine and Seb Favre and Pascal and the cool people in Perpignan. Great people in Torino, too.Beyond that the tour was a disaster, in the sense that Kiss'n'Run booking did not get us anywhere near the sort of modest-to-low guarantees that would at least have allowed us to approach "breaking even" (minus the plane fares.) Lowpoints from the K'n'R docket was a 14 x 20 back room of a kebab shop in Munster on a Saturday night, and a Paris show opening for a Henchmen spinoff band where we got $0 (until Seb paid us out of his pocket against our insistence otherwise.)Hate did a fantastic job on a tour 45 (Strange Notes b/w Sex Beat) so if you like the Tit you should check that out. We did a 10" with Red Lounge in DE for the tour but we never got a box, even though the record was out a week before the tour. The box that was mailed to us when we got back was lost in the mail because the address was written on paper packing tape. So those songs will be on the site to download. The hell with it. Five of them are up now.History-wise, Wooden Tit formed in November of 2005 in Asheville, NC. The band's first show was a benefit for the now-defunct Asheville Global Report in January 2006. That winter the band began recording tracks that would become its first release, the LP/CD Return to Cinder on Hate Records in Italy. The album features eight originals and covers of Pere Ubu's "Street Waves" and Blind Willy McTell's "Broke Down Engine."
