About Me

Sound Heaven Studios is a custom-built studio tucked away in an extraordinarily beautiful bushland setting in the Blue Mountains. The large, airy control-room, along with two connecting live rooms looking over expansive valley views, make for the ideal creative environment.
You have a choice of either analogue or digital recording, depending on your budget and personal preferences. We mix tracks with Digital Performer, using a range of top-notch reverbs, equalisers and compressors.
You have a choice of either analogue or digital recording, depending on your budget and personal preferences. Analogue recording often gives a warmer and richer sound (think ‘valves’), whereas digital recording is arguably more flexible and often better suited to synthesised and sampled sound. Sound Heaven Studios help you access the best of both worlds.
Digital Performer mix system with unlimited tracks and eight outputs Outboard gear at no extra charge including Lexicon and TC reverbs along with Amek, Drawmer and Tubetech compressors. Manley and API equalisers. Range of microphones including Microtech Gefell UM90s, Schoeps C41s, Coles ribbons mics and Royer ribbon mics. Analogue 1/2" 16 track Fostex tape recorder. Band Members: Sound Heaven Studios is home to many awesome artists. Ranging from the smooth jazz of Rachel Hannan to the the funky, modern Hermitude.
John Stuart is the main Sound Engineer. . .
John studied Composition and Arranging at Berklee University in Boston and in the last 20 years, John has forged a career writing music for films and cartoons (check out the music for Ginger Meggs, Peter Pan, Winds of Jarrah and much more).
In recent years, John has moved into arranging and production. In the last two years alone, John has been working for Zomba Music, writing a double-CD for double-string orchestra, a CD collection for cartoons, a double-CD for a fifteen-piece big band, as well as recording and producing four albums at Sound Heaven Studios.
John has also been working on arranging and recording three tracks for a 10-piece jazz fusion band as well as finishing up some commercial writing for UK television.
On the gig front, you’ll find John playing congas with the 9-piece salsa band Babalu, on Tuesday nights at the Rose of Australia with Jackie Orszacski or, in his more eclectic moments, playing steel guitar with Rachel Hannon’s Little Big Band.
