About Me

Hey I am Kate! I began showing signs of anorexia when I was 12 years old, when I became obsessed with exercise. I reached recovery on my own upon entering high school. I began to relapse during my junior year of high school... I eventually got in a car accident in my own driveway from blacking out at the wheel, from starvation. I was put in outpatient, nutritional and cognitive therapy. When that failed my parents forced me to go to an inpatient facility; Renfrew of Philadelphia. I was unwilling to recover at first. My main goal was to be the best anorexic, and die from the disorder, but I maintained my discharge weight until the following summer. I faced another relapse in summer 2006 and decided on my own to go to the Center for Change in Utah. After being fed up with my eating disorder, I reached a firm recovery, without another hospitalization, and haven't been the same since!I was fed up with anxiety, with counting calories, with plain salads, of my pants falling off, of missing my senior year of high school, and being the outcast! My recovery has been full of twists and turns but I couldn't be happier then where I am now. I count the first day of my inpatient stay as my recovery anniversary which is October 10, 2005. I have decided to do something special on my anniversaries. On my first anniversary I got my second tattoo; the word Strength on my right ankle to represent a year of strength. My second anniversary I bought a Tiffany necklace I wanted and got it engraved with my anniversary date. My third anniversary was a day enjoyed with friends and shopping. I believe all things happen for a reason so I decided to dedicate my life to helping those with eating disorders by becoming a therapist specializing in eating disorder and addiction recovery. My eating disorder took so much away from me, but finally I am living the life I was meant to live!!! Myspace Layout Maker v2.0
