About Me

There's not too much exciting to say about me.
For starters, I am a teacher in the wonderful Seattle Public Schools and in the summertime, the director of the
Seattle Schools All-City Marching Band
where I get to work with 120 of the greatest kids in the world.
(And 20 knuckleheads) Just kidding.
I guess next on the list of things that define me, would be the fact that I am a Christian who is still working on learning about and living up to what that fully means.
In that aim I have been studying theology part time, volunteering as a youth ministry leader at my church, and running the church music department.
As a Christian I try to be the type of loving and accepting person that I believe Christ was, and not the judgmental and hypocritcal type we see so often portrayed on tv, who has turned people completely off on religion.I have been generally reluctant to join the myspace community. But a ton of people that I know seem to be on it, and if not anything else it may be a good distraction when bored.

My Interests

Music
(Jazz, Gospel and Rhythm and Blues
Theater
(although I don't see much)

Comedy and Horror Movies

Playing Spades and Dominoes with Friends

I'd like to meet:

Being a political junkie, I am pretty much interested in meeting just about any politician.

I also love working with and meeting with young people who are doing positive things.

But I guess if the people I would like to meet most would be the singers whose music inspires me.

Shirley Caesar
Anita Baker
Dionne Warwick
Gladys Knight
Luther Vandross (too late for that one I guess)
Kirk Franklin
Donie McClurkin
Stevie Wonder
Earth, Wind, and Fire
Toni Braxton

But I am open to meeting just anybody who likes to engage in interesting or funny conversations.

Music:

Anything gospel
most jazz
old school Rhythm and Blues

Books:

Not a big reader but the most recent things I have read that have had an impact have been "Purpose Driven Life", and "Tuesdays with Morrie"

Heroes:

My Gammie - taught me faith; taught me my self worth
My Granny - my guardian angel/my safety net
My Savior Jesus - my constant friend, my strong tower
Bishop Hardy and Bishop Drayton - My spritual grandfathers
My Mother - Taught me that people really can change for the better
My Father - Taught me to let the past be the past
My Former Teachers - Taught me to value my education and showed me that we teach children not subjects
Coach Rutherford - Challenged me to be more than I thought I could be

Still Gotta Say "Thank You"

This has been a rough month for me. We have gone two weeks without heat in most of our house. Christmas morning at about 1am a tire blew out on my car, forcing me to leave it stranded on the freeway b...
