About Me

Jamie Purnell's music is like a reassuring arm around the shoulder from a good friend. With a sure-handed fingerstyle guitar, and a warm, rich voice remeniscent of James Taylor or Jim Croce, Jamie reminds us that, though life may not always be as good as it seems, neither is it that bad.In October 2003, Jamie released his debut album. "Two Different Towns" is full of strong songs and rich acoustic textures. The CD features guest appearances by Jonathan Byrd, Robert Griffin, and Ray & Lindsay Tims.Since 2003, Jamie has played local and regional stages including Cat's Cradle, Eno River Festival, The Evening Muse (Charlotte), The Open Eye, Cafe Driade, and The Blue Horn.Along the way, Jamie has garnered unsolicited praise from songwriting luminaries such as David Wilcox, Cliff Eberhardt, Kate Campbell, Anje Duvakot, Devon Sproule, and Andrea Stople.Plans are underway for a follow-up CD. "Reconciliation" will be produced by Carrboro's own Chris Wimberly and is tentatively scheduled for release in 2010.
