About Me
My name is Erick LaBanca, I have been DJing house and techno since I was 15. I worked at a record store called Satellite Records in NYC. I began playing clubs at around the age of 18 and throughout the years managed rock out at venues such as club Vinyl, Life, Carbon, Shelter, Tunnel, Midway, Jet Lounge, Lunatarium, Shine (Touch parties), Novacento (w/ Dave Hollands), Plant Bar, Open Air, Boogaloo, The Brooklyn Loft (sweet!), and my last residency in New York City, The Sullivan Room. During this time I had the opportunity to share the decks and learn from some of the world's most reknown DJs such as Timo Maas, Pete Bones, Randall Jones, Dave Ralph, Hybrid, Dave Hollands, Max Graham, Eddie Richards, Terry Mullan, DJ Feelgood, Bassbin Twins, Eddie Baez, Starecase, Melvin Moore, and DJ Disciple, amongst others. Of course this was my experience in New York, and now I am now in Los Angeles looking for a second chapter....With regards to my style, my sound focuses on hard-hitting basslines, sturdy and well-defined rhythms, with melodies and chord progressions that venture into the worlds of deep, moody, brooding, bright, uplifting, energetic, retro, and nostalgic. At the right time of the night I might go mental with hard techno, twisted acid lines and hollow sounding pads that I might bring back with chunky minimal techno. If I'm feeling the crowd to be a soulful one, or if the sun is hitting just right, I might dig out some Danny styled vox house. I think that I aspire in all my mixes and DJ sets to string a common thread between the many types of house music not only by blending sounds together but also by slamming together unlikely genres. For me it's the best way to keep it interesting for myself and hopefully for the dancefloor as well. The mix CD that I have uploaded in 4 parts is called 'undone' and it definitely throws more towards deep house and techno.
